Hoarder

Hoarder Hodor

Yup, that’s another Game of Thrones joke from him. We do really like Hodor. Here are some other amusing Hodor things HERE and HERE.

Mr Gwon isn’t really a hoarder. We have no space at all so if he was there would be major problems. And we’d have some big problems in our relationship too. The times when I ask him to throw something out and he doesn’t do it is because of laziness, not because he can’t let go of some rubbish.

Anyway, apparently he thought “hoarder” and “hodor” were enough alike to make a joke.

Supanova Sydney 2013

This is our video of our Supanova experience! We didn’t have much time as my husband had to work that night and my brother was only in Sydney for the day. It was really crowded inside, even more so because people couldn’t hang around outside as much due to the rain. I’d really like to see it in a bigger venue next year (though we are unlikely to go as we’ll be in Korea).

We really liked seeing the Game of Thrones costumes. My other favourite was the Futurama ones. It’s always cool seeing the effort people go to.

It would be nice to see more areas for people to sit and talk to others. People are forced to sit on cold cement up on the second level walkway. Also an area for children is needed as well I think, there seems to be more children every year and it would make it easier for them and their parents if they were catered for too.

Overall it’s still a really cool experience and we enjoyed it, even though we were functioning on only 4 hours sleep.

Talking to Himself

Talking to himself

We have almost finished watching Game of Thrones. We’ll be done in a few days, it’s just difficult to find time to watch while my husband is working, but soon!

So yes, I caught him pretending to be a Dothraki warrior in the bathroom. For those that don’t watch Game of Thrones, he was pretending to be like this:

Khal-Drogo (640x480)

It’s funny though, Jason Momoa who played Khal Drogo is someone I’ve been a fan of for a long time. I used to be a big Stargate Atlantis fan, which he was in. Now my husband wants to look like him. I told him if keeps working out at the gym I’ll make him a Dothraki costume sometime.

Speaking of costumes: if anyone going to Sydney Supanova Pop Culture Expo next weekend?

Watermelon

Watermelon

No spoilers! We haven’t caught up yet. But we probably will because my husband has a few days off so we are going to stay with my parents in my home town. We’ll have lots of time then.

Now because we are going to be at my childhood home and it’s much bigger than where we live in Sydney, we are going to make some cooking videos while there. So please give us some suggestions of what you’d like to see us attempt to cook!

HBO

HBO

We are only at the second season so no major spoilers please! We should catch up soon though.

South Korea is quite conservative and there is more censorship, but Koreans have the fastest internet in the world… they just go download the things they want to watch anyway. I’ve been meaning to watch Game of Thrones for a while but it wasn’t until some Korean friends recommended it to my husband that we actually started. It’s better to watch it now with Korean subtitles so he can understand everything.

But yes, in my husband’s words, “HBO shows EVERYTHING”. Many times I feel like I should cover his eyes to protect his innocent mind.

Arrested Development

Sorry… if you don’t watch the TV show Arrested Development you may not understand this one!

Arrested Development

It’s very nice of him to go along with our practical joke. If you watch Arrested Development (it was cancelled years ago but now there are new episodes) you know why we got him to do this.

I love Korean Dramas but…

Korean Dramas

I finished a drama the other day and yet again was disappointed with the ending. Why aren’t things properly resolved??? I think it’s no surprise that my favourite dramas are usually the ones that resolve everything at the end and tie up all the loose threads. Too many just don’t though. There may literally be 5 hours footage of the guy and girl staring at each other in the drama, but apparently there is not enough time to resolve everything?

If you haven’t watched a Korean drama before, please don’t think they are so bad. They aren’t all like that. There are some really great ones and there are lots of good points about them, just too many end in a really an unsatisfying way. (I put this comic up on Tumblr first and saw some interesting theories about Korean dramas being allegories for Korea and the hardships Korea has faced).

Also, unlike TV dramas in Western countries, Korean dramas tend to be about 20 (long) episodes and then just finishes forever, unlike ongoing dramas in other countries that have many seasons, so the story and episode structure is very different in Korean dramas.
