WE ARE IN AUSTRALIA!

We are in Australia! We flew Japan airlines first to Japan, and then down to Australia. We had a great experience with them so we will definitely fly with them again. We arrived in Sydney a few days ago and have just been catching up with friends before we go down the coast to the holiday house where we will have Christmas with my family.

I’m really unsure if I’ll have internet access while we are there for a week, but we’ll see.

I am loving the summer heat! I know people are already sick of it, but compared to horrible humidity in the Korean summer, this feels so much better to me. I can handle the drier heat. I can’t wait to go to the beach too!

We are in Australia for 6 weeks, so we’ll spend a lot of time in my hometown as well.

Vlog: SBS PopAsia and Dinner

We still have a few vlogs from when we were in Australia. We’ve been a bit slow editing them, but here is when we went to SBS PopAsia for an interview and then had dinner with Han and Sophie and Alice.

More Cookies

More Cookies

Since there isn’t really a baking culture in Korea, for some Koreans (my husband in particular) tasting real home made cookies can be like a religious experience. In Korea, cookies (or biscuits in Australian/British English) are just store bought ones and even ones in cafes are not that good. Whenever we are in Australia Hugh demands more and more cookies. There are a lot of people living at my parents’ house so he was very concerned about other people eating the cookies. Several times I caught him trying to hide the container of cookies in our room.

It’s also interesting comparing childhood experiences with Koreans in regards to cooking. For example, baking is a relatively safe activity to do with children and my siblings and I were able to bake and make cakes and cookies from an early age. Since most homes in Korea don’t have ovens, it isn’t possible to get children baking at a young age and other types of cooking (stove top cooking) are more dangerous for young children. Not only are baking skills not learnt early on in Korea, but even buying simple baking items like measuring cups and wooden spoons can be difficult.

Did you learn how to bake when you were young?

Back from Australia: Pics post

We are back in Korea! We did film some things in Australia and have a few more vlogs to upload, but mostly it was a holiday for us. We have a bunch of photos to show you (mostly food) and then we’ll be back to normal schedule!

Arriving in Australia

Just a quick update video! We are currently editing our backlog of vlogs as well, so they will be coming soon…. hopefully… This very short video that would normally take about 10 minutes to upload on our “slow” Korean countryside internet took 90 minutes on this Australian internet haha.

Packed Already

Packed Already

We are heading to Australia next week! We will stay there for a month. I’ll be bridesmaid at a friend’s wedding and we’ll catch up with friends and family. Hugh is packed already! In another comic I showed how he quickly unpacks when he gets home from a trip, but he also likes to be packed early. I’m a last minute packer though. What about you guys?

I think part of the reason for early packing this time is that he is so excited to go back to Australia. We are not sure how much blogging we will be able to do while there because we will be busy, actually from this week on we are quite busy. So please bear with us over the next month as we deal with busy schedules (and unfortunately some health problems).
