Name Change

Name Change

Hugh and his sister watched this drama, so I saw bits and pieces of it but didn’t watch all of it. I was glad to see that a popular drama has a lead male that wasn’t another rich son of a CEO, like almost all other dramas. Apparently it has sparked an interest in men in the special forces though.

What I find a bit ironic is that now there is this interest in how soldiers speak and even some women (who don’t have to do compulsory military service) have started trying to talk like a soldier. Previously, men who finished their service could be self conscious about their automatic soldier speech, especially because people might make fun of it. But now it was in a drama, it’s suddenly “cool”. How fickle people are…haha.

Speaking of name changes, it used to be hard to change your name in Korea, but these days it is quite easy. I don’t think Hugh should change his name though…

Nicholalala Webtoon Episode: How we REALLY met

Nicholalala episode

CLICK HERE TO READ THE REST OF THE WEBTOON.

In a previous webtoon episode I joked about how we met because through the Nicholalala webtoons I’ve gained a new audience that doesn’t necessarily know our real story. I continue that joke in this new webtoon.

Thank you everyone for liking, sharing, commenting and rating. Although Naver Webtoons have been a big thing in Korea for years, (Naver) Line Webtoons (the international site) is pretty new and not everyone knows about it. It’s really important to know that Line Webtoons supports and pays artists and has the proper rights for these comics/webtoons etc. If a webtoon/manga/manwha is on Line Webtoon but you see it on another site as well, it means that other site has stolen it. Please only read them on Line Webtoon. These other sites usually have “manga” in the url (mangafox, mangabay, mangahere etc) and they STEAL all the content they have on their site. Not only do they steal but they chop up webtoons/mangas etc and put a panel on separate pages so they optimize their advertising profit while negatively affecting the experience for the viewer. Unfortunately because mangas/manhwas/webtoons have not been available in English previously, people have had to rely on these illegal sites, it’s changing now but people aren’t aware of sites like LINE Webtoons (and other upcoming sites), so please spread the word. Support the sites that support the artists.

Modern Farmer Final Episode Discussion

This is a video just for those that were watching the Korean drama Modern Farmer! We talk about the final episode and the series as a whole.

There are lots more things to talk about, so for those wanting to discuss it, feel free to talk about it here, or over in the comment section on YouTube.

Boys Over Flowers

Boys Over Flowers

So I’m enjoying it. Even with the overacting, Lee Min-ho’s curly hair and that weird thing she does with her mouth.

I haven’t watched a Korean drama in a while because I know when I do I end up wasting so much time. My husband doesn’t like these types of dramas and if he watches a drama it’s usually a serious one.

But yes, I am enjoying it. I can see why this one is so popular.

Korean Drama Guy

Korean Drama Guy

Mr Gwon does have a grumpy, bossy side, and it does come out occasionally.

I get annoyed at the same plot line used in a lot of Korean dramas where they guy is really rude and bossy to the girl until he eventually realises he loves her. It is used way too much. I really don’t like it when the girl is really submissive as well and responds to his dumb requests like “Meet me here!”, “Bring me coffee!” etc etc. I usually don’t put up with it and just laugh when some of those behaviours occasionally come out in my husband. He always denies that he was acting like a Korean drama guy later, but he knows it!
