I don't really like GETTING the back hug, I would prefer to GIVE the back hug. Plus I think it works better that way when the shorter person is behind, it's kinda girlie no? Well of course it doesn't look that way in dramas...sigh... hahaha

I cringe from the awkwardness of it. It isn't something I can control it is just a reaction to witnessing the awkward situation. I've never seen anyone do a backhug in person.

Well, in dramas they should not make us cringe since they are meant to be seen by us as entertainment. But our reactions to the real back hugs of others (when we are not involved) are our own problems and only the feelings of the actual huggers matter. If we don't like it, don't watch it. LOL

It is a well-established fact that people who take sports in high school are more violent and far more likely to beat their children or mates. It seems that being humilated and debased by coaches serves as modelling for them about what an adult should be. They often then treat others the way the coaches treated them. Hopefully, you can overcome the desire to hurt people who express affection toward you.

In that case, you should consider maybe having a bit more interaction with him in the bedroom so he would not wonder what is down there.

Hugh actually seemed to like that hug quite a bit. He even closed his eyes and lay his cheek on his back. I wondered if he would even let go there for a minute. It was very sweet and they are obviously good friends. One thing that I really admire about Koreans is that they don't assume that everything is sexual. Hugs aren't, even kisses aren't, being alone with a member of the opposite sex is not strange simply because decent people are trustworthy (and if they aren't, keeping doors open or watching them constantly is a fool's errand, anyway, since no one can be watched always). Sleeping together is sleeping together. Koreans are free to enjoy some of the best of human interactions because they have no Puritans in their history.

Sounds like therapy might be down the road for you. Hopefully, it is a short road before you miss out on some of the warmest human interactions.

That's funny. Even in dramas, back-hugs seem a bit out of place at times. Sneaking up on someone cooking can lead to accidents. And sometimes I can't help but wonder if the hugger thinks that the huggee might have bad breath. A back hug to a person who is sad seems to me to risk adding fear and startle to an already negative experience. Other times, especially among K-Pop guys, I think they just want to avoid mussing hair, costumes, or makeup. In any case, it is always up to the 2 people involved to decide what is good or annoying and not the people, like us, whose business it is not.
