You know, there’s an Anne of Green Gables “house” (really just a cute restaurant in that style) on Udo off of Jeju island. They have a bunch of the books and anime stills (apparently it was popular in Japan?) The Canadians I was with were pretty psyched about it.

How “different” worlds merge sometimes…
I am a regular lurker on your funny and interesting blog, because of my interest in Korea for five years now, and it is still deepening.
How come ?

I am a Dutchman, macho-to-the-core, and used to follow my own nose.
We were introduced to Anne of Green Gables by a AFS -exchange student beginning ’90’s, who lived with us for a year. We liked it.
11 years later we found the DVD’s back in Canada, where we have a branch of our family.

Exact in a very dark and somber year, where some Optimism was needed.
I was the one who got hooked, and engaged in Anne-forums, which were very active for some years.

They have become quieter these days, but there are still a few kindred-spirits in my FB-list. One of my buddies lived in Korea in 2009, teaching English.
She suggested to give a Korean movie or drama a try, for a change.
I did, not expecting much, but within 3 weeks I was hooked,
Now five years further, I have hardly seen anything else beside Korean drama.
Megan Follows, ( and Jennifer Ehle in P&P) has always been in my very short list of Very Favorite Actresses, because of her genuine way of acting.
This list is a bit longer now, with Korean actresses Moon Geun Young, Yoon Eun Hye , Ha Ji Won and Shin Min Ah also in it )

( Megan Follows is in Ämerican drama Reign still. The reviews are very bad for this production. A pity for such a great actress, I think Hollywood could use some Korean advisers to make a proper historic drama )

I think that girls that are still dating should see this. I think when we just start out loving people, especially when we are teens we let stuff that we probably shouldn’t slip. It’s a perfect ending though! Mr. Gwon is pretty cool. Wasn’t there a movie of show for Anne of Green Gables, and Anne of Avonlea? I seem to remember that. This makes me want to go on a quest! XD

How nice! Just wondering whether he is also happy to carry your handbag in public too? My Aussie husband first refused it because he thinks it’s not something a Man would do, certainly not in Australia. But I now trained him so well that he is happy to carry my handbag in public as long as I hold his hands. 🙂 (I told him that Korean men loves holding their girl friend’s handbag. Some “single” Korean guy’s life wish is to carry a girl’s handbag to show off that they have a girl friend! It was a true story of my friend. Lol)
