When we were in Seoul we met a bunch of other couples like us – Caucasian girls with Korean guys, so it definitely happens. I think it’s good to remember that it may be hard finding a boyfriend in your own city anyway and that the guy being Korean may not always be the reason. There are probably lots of factors – lack of English skill and being scared of using English. Also if guys are more conservative about finding a partner it can be understandable if they have never left Korea and had haven’t had the type of experiences Han and Hugh have had. But every guy is different.

I think sometimes girls go to Korea expecting to get a Korean boyfriend right away but when they don’t end up with that serious relationship they want they can blame Korean guys or Korean culture… but the reality is that they could be having a similar experience in their own country. They could be having difficulty with guys from their own country if they weren’t in Korea. Lack of interest from Korean guys doesn’t always mean the guys are only wanting Korean girls. 🙂
