There's even more to people's "unawarness" (let's call it that way so as not to say stupidity ;) Now the hot topic being the Olympics, I asked one of my friends about the meaning of the Olympic Rings and he said: "Obviously they stand for the 5 continents: North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia". I asked: "What about Australia?" - He answered (surprise, surprise! xD): "Australia is actually considered a part of Asia" ..... WHAT?!?! :D :D Sophie, admit it, you didn't know you were actually an Asian... :D :D

Hahaha! Oh wow! I get a similar reaction in Australia sometimes when I go to post a letter to my inlaws (Han's parents) Definitely I'd say for Australians, Poland is a long way and much closer to Russia than us.. but lucky we have a lot of Europeans in my city and most of us understand the difference.. most of us ;)

First of all - thank you soooo much for answering my question so thoroughly :-) That made me so happy! ^_^ 고마워요 !!! I must confess that I actually believed in one of the stereotypes you've mentioned (*embarassed*) ;-) Namely, the thing Han said about the Koreans and E sport. But that's because of the fact that when I was once talking to my cousins who play a lot of different games on the Internet, I asked them if there are any Koreans who participate and they answered: No, we actually don't play with the Koreans; they are far too advanced! :D So I was totally convinced it was true :D Thank you for dispelling my doubts :D Now I must break the news to my cousins haha :D Another thing is what Hugh said about Korean people being believed to speak Chinese or Japanese - this actually happened to me a few days ago (I already told Nichola this story^^). I was at the post office to send a letter to Hugh and Nic, and I wrote their address both in English and Korean on the envelope.. And the lady taking my letter was like: "Is it to South Korea...? (then she looked at the envelope) Ohh right, there's even the address written in Chinese!" :D I was about to make the most epic FACEPALM in the history :D I said: "Actually, it's in KOREAN...the letter is to South KOREA" - But she didn't even take notice! As if I was saying something obvious - Korea, China, WHATEVER ;) ...which actually makes me pretty ashamed of the Poles U_U But I guess things like that happen everywhere... Just like mistaking the Polish for the Russians and the Ukrainians... I was once asked by an Italian aunt of my friend to translate a letter which was written in Cyrillic (you know, the script used for example by the Russians) O_O And I was like: "Actually, we DON'T use this alphabet in Poland..." And she was most surprised... Oh and another situation - recently some Korean guy has written to me on facebook that he saw my posts on MyKoreanHusband and he wanted to say "hi" because he wants to have friends in Russia -.-'' I said: Great. I wish I had friends there, too, dude ;) I'm wondering if such unawareness (so as not to say "ignorance") is more annoying or hilarious... ;) Anyway.... thank you once again for answering this question :-) You keep making my days, guys! :-)
