I read this before I left for work this morning and have been giggling about it all day. I work for an optometrist in a town of less than 10,000 people and since I’ve been there for 4 years frequently patients expect that I remember their names. I remember them – the person – but sometimes matching faces and names in my brain with allllllllllll the names of everyone else I’ve been helping that day is a challenge. We definitely use descriptives to help us (Pink Glasses, PE Dude and Foghorn Leghorn to name a few). It’s usually the pronunciation that kills me.

I have trouble with English names but am better at remembering female names because I pay more attention. Have even more trouble remembering Korean names for the same reason Adriaan has said.
Also some people never forget a face. I’m not one of those people.

I can remember people’s English names and faces, but not Korean names. I have a friend named Ju Li…but I call her Juli. I bowl with several Koreans, but I’ve shorten their names to Chu, Won, and Frank. Lol since westerners don’t use both first and last names to talk about a person… It gets confusing and I end up calling them something else.

I also have trouble remembering Korean & Chinese names (from Dramas). Possibly something about how our brains are trained to recognize certain sound combinations as names growing up? I’ve been slowly improving over my 2 years as a Drama addict 🙂

me and my best friend are both bad at remembering people’s names. Nicknaming them is the way we remember who is who, lol
i don’t know that movie reference 🙁
