From what I remember they would kidnap them and maybe lock them up…. but never showed more than that- I think not knowing what could happen was even more scary.

All I gathered from the wiki entry was they are villains. But what degree of villainy are we talking here? Just general interference to merry-making or bake them in an oven/how the hell is this a children’s tale type level of fear? Because that illustration is incredibly creepy!
