In reply to Nic (MyKoreanHusband). I guess it really depends on the type of manure they're using :) We usually use cow or horse in my area. When I had rabbits we'd use their pellets in the garden, but since we gave them to some local county fair kids now we get some from the neighbor's every spring since they have a few horses. Sometimes the farmers use pig manure, though, which takes some getting used to.

We live by Michigan State University, which is a huge agricultural college in America. They have all kinds of test farms for both animals and crops, so the smell of fertilizer is not all that uncommon in the morning! It’s not even that “countryside” where we live, either!

I sort of don’t mind the country smell, when it’s just plain old cow poop. It’s not too bad, but being a city girl, it takes some getting used to haha. It’s when they add all the stuff to it and stick it in the gardens in the city, that’s when I hate it. 🙁 It always smells so much worse.

I find the smell of fertilizer so soothing!~ but I’ve lived around farms since I was a kid, so now that I don’t it’s such a joy to catch a wiff of it.
