The only holiday that I’ve celebrated/prepared for that comes close to your Chuseok experience is when I lived in Tajikistan. The women in my host family and I spent THREE DAYS shopping and cooking and preparing food. It was intense! And we bought quite a bit so we didn’t have to cook as much as others and we hired out some of the work. It was the craziest/coolest thing I’ve ever done culinary wise.

In reply to Janine Pressley. Chuseok is the thanksgiving type of holiday in Korea and no thanksgiving holiday in Australia :)

With my family, it’s all volunteer based, and I usually volunteer myself to cook a TON of stuff. I always regret doing it and I end up roping my husband into helping even though he’s not very good at cooking haha.
