I'm only 23 but I still enjoyed them when I was younger and occasionally pick up a box. It isn't as much of a staple now as before I was born for sure. Probably has something to do with the prizes in them being pretty terrible now, haha. They are yummy though.

If I was that old, maybe. Probably has more to do with my love of caramel corn, singing along with the crowd at ball games and national pride. We can agree the prize stinks and they've taken out the peanuts so that stinks too, but we are in a recession. Happy 4th of July!

It could be that you are showing your age. My father loved them, and had them often as a child. The free toy inside (the quality and inventiveness of which went so far down hill that I think that alone may be responsible for their fading glory) was what he and we as children wanted even more than the food.

But I would guess that no one under 20 would have any idea what they were, and possibly under 40 would have never had them or only on rare occasions.

Crackerjacks are a very traditional and popular candy in America. It's mentioned in the song "take me out to the ball game", sung at every baseball game from kids to pros during the 7th inning stretch. It's as American as hotdogs and apple pie! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_Jack
