Yay lots of Texas things. I starting looking at all the familiar things in the box wondering where it was from. At the end you said Texas, and I was thinking “I knew it!” I might have to send you some of my favorite Texas things that you haven’t received.

I really enjoy watching the CoC videos because I feel like I come away learning something new. Like kaekaed mentioned, for example, I had no idea that Kool-Aid was an “American” thing. In one video, there was a lot of candy sent to you and Hugh that I’ve always considered a normal thing here. I also live in Texas, and I’ve been seeing the recent packages y’all have received and I get a little excited when an item is taken out that I recognize.

Also, not sure if you’re tried the Takis yet, but they’re not for everyone. Where I live, they are eaten a lot, but to people who have never tried them before, it might be strange or spicy; they are actually made by a Mexican company. There are other flavors and I’ve found I like the “Original” flavor the most. The “Fuego” flavor is a little too strong for my tastes.

I hope that the next time you get something from Texas, they send you Gansitos, they are amazing! My favorite pastry, made by a Mexican company. There is a lot of Texan/Mexican culture going on in the region of Texas I am from, and a lot of Mexican culture gets mixed up with the typical Texan culture.

Thanks for running such an interesting blog! I’ve been following it since November, but I went through all the posts before that.

This was so fun to watch! It also made my heart get all warm and fuzzy as I thought about the good that the Internet can actually do by uniting people who become friends and share things and send packages and all that good stuff. It brings me hope that not only is world peace potentially something that can happen, but that people are people no matter where we come from. Thank you for reminding me of that. Also, Alice smiles just like Han, it’s so cute!

Confession. Even with all of my interest in other cultures, it never occurred to me that Kool-Aid was a US only thing. I guess I figured it was part of a universal childhood. I remember going to the store and only being able to pick out X packets and having to decide which ones I wanted that trip.
Someone (not necessarily hinting) should totally do a blog on little cultural things like KoolAid and window latches.
