He is a fifty-something-year-old Mexican man and he says he HATES Mexican soap operas and always has because of how cliche, repetitive, and dramatic they are. But he ALWAYS watches them! One time he said he was going to stop because “they are stupid” but everyday he comes home from work and watches two to three of them at night when they come out on T.V. I remind him of what he said about them but he just shushes me and watches on. Some of them are funny but most of them are about living in an hacienda and two guys going after one girl, blah drama blah.
Korean ones tend to be like this too, at least the ones I have seen. My favorites have been the funny ones like Reply 1997, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, To the Beautiful you, etc. I can’t stand the super serious dramatic ones. Guess it comes from growing up in a Mexican household where most Mexican soap opera/dramas are that kind.

I think it is my favorite drama ever. It is the first time I watched a drama where they acted so natural. Their conversations seemed like real conversions between people and not just actors. Most of the interactions seem natural, especially how Na-jung and Sseureki use to fight in the beginning. Some other dramas I like are “Roof Top Prince” , “Coffee Prince”, “To the Beautiful You” and a few others.
