While growing up in the Bronx, on the weekends my mom would take me with her to go get West Indian bread. The place was always crowded and the lines would always be so long, so I would sit in the corner by the window sill. To my right, there was always a little old lady with a big silver pot cooking intestines filled with rice. My mom called it Blood Pudding, but that might be the West Indian term. So it exist in my culture too and I'm still creeped out about it, lol.

I find it interesting that such unique dishes exist in other cultures too.

Actually it tastes good fried with Ddeok Bokki ir spicy sauce, but i really like it best served in the broth style soup. you'd be surprised how the texture makes such a difference.

it tastes similar (that lovely strong, slightly metallic taste) - but the texture is totally different. its really chewy because of the noodles.

I was expecting to see ice- cream. But I wash't totally shock. I grow up in a very traditional asian family even though I am born in Australia and seeing "strange" food was not out of the ordinary for me. I have eaten intestines, lungs, kidney, heart and stomach. When my friends I found out ate fetal duck eggs growing up they pretty much freaked out. We have snake wine in my house and for some reason I have never questioned it.

Haha yes, it can a horrible surprise if someone was expecting the ice cream variety when Korean friends ask if they like sundae.
