there are male ghosts. Particularly male virgin ghosts. I may not be entirely correct in this, but I think one of the reasons male ghosts aren’t as prominent has to do with the fact that women were expected to fulfill 3 roles before they died: good daughter, good wife, and good mother. If they failed to fulfill these three things before their death, they were expected to come back as ghosts. They could even have been a wife and a mother, but if they did not preform their duties well, for example, they cheated on their husband or they abondoned their child, they would become ghosts.

Men on the other hand, only had one ‘duty’ to preform; get laid.
