It's 100% real and I'm weak at english
so i write on korean
Just one thing you should know is
Meet korean through your friends
good luck

Hi Sophie !
That's very interesting. In a way there are lots lots of similarities with he korean and the african culture (i'm mixed-race from african and french caribbean descent) like the family hierarch, the spanking punishments or idea of man providing for the family.

In reply to <a href="https://www.mykoreanhusband.com/how-to-get-a-korean-boyfriend/#comment-12921">Heïdi Myre Brière</a>.

Thanks for your question, I've been thinking about this and I can tell you definitely our school systems are completely different, though I have no school children yet so what I can tell you more about is early childhood upbringing at home.
From the start there are some significant differences. I guess in Korean society it is still much more common to 'give up' a career when you become a mum. In Australia many mums go back to work within the first 6months-year after birth. I am staying at home to raise Alice full time.
Baby'wearing' has become much more popular in Australia recently, but it has always been so in Korea.
My husband grew up being spanked as punishment, but my mum did not punish in that way.. i think that reflects the common views of each society on discipline.
In early childhood a korean child has to learn the family hierarchy. They need to remember the birth order of family members, learn polite speech and a complex system of manners. Australian children learn please and thankyou but often can call some adults by first name.
In Korea there seems to be a much more 'village' approach to raising the child. Han's aunts and uncles are all "halmoni" (grandma) and "haraboji" (grandpa) to Alice although this would not be the case in my extended family. I found in Korea that older women I didn't know were very helpful on the subway and airplanes- willingly taking my baby to cuddle when she cried to give me a break or holding up a jacket so I could breastfeed on the train which is still a bit of a taboo in korea, while public feeding is ok everywhere in sydney and strangers might help you lift a pram onto the bus but not much else. I think I've veered a bit from the point of your question so I'll leave it there except to add that Han and I are implementing a mix of our cultures' tradition in the raising of Alice.
