In reply to Gabby. I used to work with a woman that when they got fresh bread it was her treat to have both the ends of the bread as soon as they got home with it. Saved on the waste and the crusty ends of the loaf make the best toast!

At least the ‘not normal’ strawberries will make the most yummy jam. Though I don’t think as many would have made it to the pot if I was charged with taking them to put them away for jam making. I was born at the end of strawberry season in the UK and I love strawberries! Good to buy them when you can walk past them and just smell that lovely strawberry smell…they taste so much better than. Are you sick of the sight of strawberries yet though?

I love strawberry jam!

At least the abnormal-looking ones get put to use unlike the ends of bread loaves. Most people will eat all the pieces except those two, so I always make it a point to eat them…So they don’t feel left out… ( ‘_’)

I feel sorry for the strawberries in the last panel D: They’re crying! (although I suppose their fates are equally as gruesome as their “normal” counterparts).

Not to say anything against how the industry is run or a diatribe against how things are done, but it’s kind of sad that we can’t accept “abnormal” fruit.. or so-called abnormal fruit.

Nature made it like that, so they’re really quite “normal” in my opinion.

As an example — tomatoes. Honestly, heirloom tomatoes can be beautiful in their own ugly way, and they taste like REAL tomatoes even if they aren’t round and perfectly red.

Kind of drives me mad, the food industry.
