I remember finding a millepede in my bathroom in Chuncheon once. I had never seen one before. I think the scariest insect I saw in Korea was the big, fat cicada in our hotel room south of Chorwon. I think big, ugly and noisy insects are more scary than small, non-venomous insects so I have to agree with your husband on that one.

In our bathroom we have from time to time the presence of cellar spiders. They just find a corner and don't move around much or make that much of a web. We've had a lot of the females birthing their babies in the bathroom! I think they live under the bath, behind the panel and it's a bit lose at one edge so they come and go through that. I don't mind them, neither does my teenage daughter. It's not even freaky when they have their babies and we have lots of tiny spiders for a few days until Mummy spider shows them under the bath. Though my daughter does say sometimes they are perverts and move over when she's in the shower for a better view! I guess it's what you are used to. We have little jumping spiders here too, so I get what you mean about them being little bastards. I will just jump and scar the crap out of you!

I'm sorry, but unless he's a superhero in a perfectly tight uniform who can swing from building to building and has been reported to be a great upside down kisser, no spider on earth should be able to jump. That's not cool. I don't know how you handle that, Nic, but you're a hero. I am not Team Creepy, Crawly.

Ew! Are we both having a bug invasion?
Coincidentally, earlier today, there was a super annoying fly that kept buzzing around me for over an hour, but I couldn't kill it. Suddenly, my mom, who was sitting next to me, noticed it fell in the glass of water I was drinking. Since we wanted to get revenge on the fly for bothering us so much, instead of immediately killing it, we put a cover over the glass, and then were entertained by watching it drown (As of now, its been two hours but its swimming around, and we have no idea how it's still alive)

I think I'll side with you on the spider argument. I had one drop on my head once and spiders moving quickly in my direction (jumping, dropping, scurrying, crawling in between my skin and my shirt, etc.) definitely freak me out. On the other hand, if it's a daddy long legs that is just going to chill in the corner, I let it live. Might even name it and talk to it.

Are the millipedes as bad as the ones in Vanatu?

I find it amusing when people are afraid of spiders/insects/other crawly things. How can you be scared of something so tiny? And tarantulas are fuzzy; therefore, they cannot be scary. Granted, I'm that crazy person who catches black widows (venomous North American spiders) and re-releases them into the wild far from people who might squish them... On a related topic, I have a Japanese friend who's also afraid of butterflies. Maybe butterflies in Asia are unusually scary.

Yikes! I would've scrubbed at my foot for an hour too!

In a weird twist of fate, today at work, when I took a sip of water out of my water bottle, I felt something on my tongue and when I went to spit it out, it was a spider! I freaked out for a little bit afterwards and wanted to sanitize my mouth. The spider must've been in my water bottle and I didn't notice when I went to fill it up with water. YUCK!
