Britain is funny. We actually have a lot of convenience store versions of major chains, which I think keeps the prices down a bit in some in actual local corner shop type convenience stores. They call the chain versions things like 'Sainsurys local' and it will be a smaller version that carries a particular selection from the bigger stores, which ends up only being half the things I want usually. Alcohol is always much cheaper at the major chain stores annoyingly though. I'd prefer to support smaller shops, but it is often quite a mark up. I am not sure how they survive. Plus, I don't know about Australia, but store brands by the big chains in Britain are often actually quite good, like for things like ready meals or bakery goods. As a result, I would be more likely to get something like that from a national chain 'local' shop just because the quality if often better than the brands that can be found at a variety of shops. M&S in particular almost only sells their own brand products, but they're really good quality.

I've never had banana milk. Is it just banana flavoured milk?

the ones I buy are called binggrae. I normally get them at lidcombe, chatswood, carbamatta or campsie whenever I go to these places. :)
