I think it's all a matter of acclimatizing. It took me about 12 years of living in a very cold climate before I could start to tolerate the cold better. It's only been the last two years that I've been able to survive winter. I still get cold, just not as bone-chillingly cold. (And the past two winters I've been through, the temperature stayed at -20 C to -25 C all winter pretty much. We even went down to -40 C/-40F). I wonder if there are actual biological changes that happen as well. I have no idea how much all of this is accurate...but http://anthro.palomar.edu/adapt/adapt_2.htm

Oh my goodness! I froze to death in the summer in the US (and I lived in three different states over 12 years) and I boiled to death in the winter time. In Korea at least, I don't completely boil to death when I am wearing winter layers.

To the people who say they prefer cold weather to hot because you can always put more clothes on I say bah! I wonder in how cold of a climate you've actually lived in, I said the same until I spent one winter in Boston. I was still cold with many MANY layers. But perhaps those of you who claim this are stronger than I.

I think they overheat sometimes in the US too, in my limited experience in cold climates. They definitely over air condition to where I am shivering in class and it's over 90 F outside. Yay wasting energy!!

Hah! Come to Canada. Winter is here and has been here and will continue to be here for a long time. Almost half the year, really.
As for heating, it seems that Canadians are used to the cold or else just have really good circulation, because I feel cold inside. Even in summer, they blast the air so that it feels like winter (grr this annoys me so much).
It's so sad to know that the next time I can even think of leaving the house with a lighter jacket will be in april, and it won't really warm up until the end of may.
I don't understand how girls are out in just leggings (even if they are fleece-lined)

I kind of envy you (kind of haha). We really don't very cold for long here in southern Florida. Our high temp for today was 86 F (30 C). Sometimes I wish we could experience real winter weather though. Hopefully we will get a nice cold front soon! Care to send some of your cold weather over here?? :p

I'd rather have cold than hot. I start to feel ill when it's too hot. And realistically there's only so much clothing I can take off. I can always put another blanket on, drink another hot beverage and snuggle up to a fire and look out the window at the snow :)
