Yeah, it's definitely a military service things, but I think he's doing it not to disturb my parents. He's trying to be unnoticeable when we're with them and he obviously thinks the stove makes too much noise. Oh dear ^^

My boyfriend showed me how to eat by wrapping food in lettuce, but I was choking most of the time. Haha :)

In reply to <a href="https://www.mykoreanhusband.com/making-toast/#comment-3863">Oegukeen - Boyfriend in Korea</a>.

Yup my husband puts a lot of food in his mouth too and often I tell him to slow down. I think it's a way that a lot of Koreans eat because they have a lot of big chunks of food in Korean cuisine, for example samgupsal, when it's the pork belly, rice and other things, wrapped up in lettuce and then shoved into the mouth haha. Or gimbap... I think the pieces are too bit, but I guess it's normal for Koreans.

Haha I just asked my husband about pouring hot water into the ramyon bag and he said "It's military service thing." They do it that way when they are doing military service because it's quick and they don't need to wash up, and even when they finish their service a lot of guys still do that. Ask your boyfriend if that's why haha. :)

Things I find most strange is that my boyfriend stuffs his mouth with enormous chunks of food. I have one tiny bite and look at him and he's already finished. Another surprising thing is when he pours hot water directly into ramyon bag. We always prepare food only in pots and pans. But I don't mind. If all of Korea is doing this, it can't be that bad, can it? :)

I never ate toast, so I don't have any experience with that. Hm.

Ok haha your gonna laugh at this one. How can over a billion asian peeps be wrong about rice? My mother used to shake her head at me all of the time about rice. I used to either burn it or under cook it all of the time no matter how I followed directions. Now I only use a rice cooker! The only difference I see about your rice and his, is that he may wash the rice? I used to get this lecture all of the time too. "mamma" Always wash your rice before you cook it. Your rice is dirty, WASH IT!

That is probably the most unsavory way to eat any kind of bread... :p LOL You two are funny!

I've grown up eating and making rice on a regular basis (because hispanics eat a lot of rice too) so, when I read that, I had the same reaction as him! But I always mess up the toast... always...
