I was the same situation. Short time after we married we went to Korea. I spent with my in laws something about 2 months. I was only sitting and reply with word like i like,dont like,tasty ,not tasty etc.i was so stressed. I know they tried hard but they were push me too much. I cried a lot. I was so much sorry for my husband because parents only complained him about my mistakes. Now we come back to Poland so i try my best to study but for a whilei dont want go to Korea…

I felt like this in French for the longest time. It just takes constant, 24/7 practice before you can feel comfortable enough. Start using formal language with your husband (I did this for French, with vous instead of tu) so that it comes more naturally.

I showed my BF the site and now we look forward to new posts and get a chance to laugh together and have some meaningful conversations about our differences/similarities that we may not have had otherwise. I know exactly how you feel! I’ve been there couple times:/ Want to say a lot but cant. I am sure that my boyfriend’s family felt totally same bad. As they are curious about western people but couldnt ask anything if my boyfriend weren’t in the room. Hwaiting for study korean!! We can do it!

In reply to Corina. Excellent advice! I always tell that to people speaking English as a second langage, but I need to take that advice myself in regards to Korean.
