this kinda confused me cause in french it’s normal to reply ‘me too’ when someone tells you they love you. It doesn’t mean that person loves himself.

My Korean boyfriend’s reply to “I love you.” is “You!” ^^ Of course, he means “I love you too”. I guess it’s just Korean thing.

Yeah sometimes native speakers do it in English too though it’s not how we are supposed to respond. It makes me think of that movie… I think it was ‘Ghost’ where the guy would only say “me too”.
It was interesting though, it was the first time he’d ever responded that way in the whole time I’ve known him. Even though I knew what he meant I didn’t realise at the time it was probably the Korean way slipping into his English.

I guess he meant to say that he loves you too. That’s one of the most common mistakes Koreans tend to make. When I say “I hate you” to Korean, they are likely to say “Me too!” because that’s how we speak in Korean. It’s confusing for non-native english speakers.

LOL…@koreanhusband: here’s one segue that you can use in that kind of situation too, you should have told Nic “Me too…..I love myself because I’m loving you.” keke just pop up in my mind. nice answer though! get well soon guys. ^_^
