lol.... in my experience pretty much every Korean is aware of the ondol and the history of the ondol. Even those with only a passing interest in Korean culture learn about. In Korean language class it&#039;s one of the first things talked about and many text books cover it early. Thank you for taking the time to write about it though.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[There is a reason why Koreans sit on the floor rather than on a chair.  Koreans also sleep on the floor rather than in bed - I am talking about those folks living in a traditional home.  But a lot of Koreans don&#039;t think about why they sit on the floor, or sleep on the floor, they just do it because this is what their parents did.

But the real reason is, Koreans invented Ondol over thousand years ago to heat their homes.  If western civilization learned of Ondol, they too would&#039;ve probably sat or slept on the floor until they learned of different ways to heat their home.

Korea does get very cold during the winter season I might add.]]></description>
