There is a really fascinatingly intelligent and insightful book about Korea titled "Social Change in Korea" edited by Kyung Dong Kim and produced by Korean Herald. It is a really good book about Korean culture as it has multiple smart authors, about 20 contributing different stories and perspectives. It has a lot of very modern references such as the last 5 years and references Park Geun-Hye a lot which is a good thing. I got it with my wife in Korea at Kyobo bookstore (how good are Korean bookstores!?!) and they have published a series of about 10 different books under the "Insight Into Korea" series. Another really good book is "Growing Up Asian in Australia" edited by Alice Pung and published by Black Inc is also a very good smart book i would recommend, it also has about 20 different stories inside. Really good insight and perspective for children growing up Asian in Australia, especially if planning to have kids!! While on the book recommendations, "Dont Go Back to Where You Came From" by Tim Soutphommasane is an incredible defence and explanation of Australian multiculturalism and the civic values of citizenship where the respect of multiculturalism is a civic virtue in Australia. Enjoy!

I actually haven't read anymore of it because as you said, it seems to have so many errors unfortunately, at least I only paid about $12 for it. The other book I got seems to be focused on history so reading that one instead.

I have to tell you "The Korean Mind" was the biggest waste of $20 (AND handbag space) EVER. Riddled with errors and lame cliches and condescending attempts at discussing Korean women's position in society.
I'm also a Sydney girl married to a Korean, so I have read a lot of books on Korean culture and history too, I'm finding that the best way to come to understanding is the history books, which show the foundation of the modern mentality and culture, studying the language (language says everything about culture) and ofcourse immersion whilst staying in Korea with his family.. I think a whole new can of worms is about to be opened when our baby is born in a few months and childrearing/DISCIPLINE becomes the major household topic!!

It's so sweet and heartwarming to see how much effort you are putting into learning the Korean culture to better understand your husband and his 'world' (not specifically pertaining to his culture but the way he sees things I guess). What a great wife you are haha

Hmm they might but the way I see it, I think they will still lead in technology. Its great to see such a huge change and I'm curious to see what will happen in the future as well. Reunification scares me, I won't lie. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
