My korean grandfather use to tell me all sorts of really creepy stories of korean folklore, which by the way were so scary that we couldn't sleep for days. Also, my grandpa MacLeod in Scotland would also tell us about some wild stories of the "wee folk", more specifically in this case, creatures like the Kelpie, the Nucklevee and Jenny Greenteeth. Interestingly, I think that asian folklore tend to be more scarier than their european counterparts, as I find the Asian ones seem like to me to be more scarier, case in point comparing the european vampire to the Japanese Kappa, where the vampire drinks the blood of it's victims, while the Kappa has been known to drown and eat their victims as well.
