Yeah they did explain about that, a lot of people would have known anyway because we do study a lot of British history too here because it merges with Australian history. When we trace back to why the British first came to Australia the Industrial Revolution is one of the factors that caused Australia to be a penal settlement. So we know 😀 I bet the Koreans were patriotic! haha. My husband keeps me constantly informed of all Korea’s wins.

Sorry for the late reply ;/ and that’s cool then 🙂 I was wondering did the Australian commentators explain the beginning bit about the Industrial Revolution? because my family thought maybe other countries would get confused if they didn’t know about British history xD And i did! they won 2-1 🙂 there was loads of koreans chanting and bashing drums, some dressed up in traditonal korean clothes too, it was very patriotic! my sister got some quick tickets for her and her friend to see the womens football final tonight aswell 🙂 she is lucky, i’m not going this time T.T

Koreans are much more patriotic than Australians. It varies from country to country. Like Americans are generally very patriotic as well. It’s nice when Australia wins, but it doesn’t bother me if they don’t. Also because my husband is Korean and our children will be half Korean, it’s important for me to become more Korean. It’s probably easier for me to give up Australian things than it is for my husband to give up Korean things. Koreans are very proud of their country and I understand that.

oh i just find it abit weird because as a korean, we have alot of pride in our country, just thought maybe you would like Australia to win too.

That’s how I feel about the olympics, it’s about celebrating all the different countries in the world and having an international community. Not for bragging about how great your own country is and ignoring everyone else.
