Hi!

I really appreciate your input on Korean culture. Currently the bf is in Korea and I've got no clue about the culture but your posts have been informative and fun to read. Hope to read more in the future! By the way, what is your job? I like your drawings! They are great!

Sorry my English T.T
Korea was divided into clans, which identified where a certain part of the population came. The most popular surnames are Kim, Lee and Park and the history of Korean surnames are officially registered. Which means that people who belonged to the same clan were considered of the same blood, the same being very distant relatives. Marriage between people of the same clan was considered taboo until 1998, when it was allowed by law these types of marriages.
I do not know if this information is true, but I think your husband should know. ^ ^

I was going to get my friend who speaks Portuguese to translate it for me, but haven't had a chance to ask yet. What does it say about Korean names?

In my new post I talk about one aspect of this- one of the things my husband is insecure about. I can't speak for the majority of Korean guys, but as a society Korea is quite judgemental of people's looks, plastic surgery is common, people's photos are put on job applications so they are judged what they look right right away. So because of this environment I think we can say that Koreans are very concious of their looks, and being very concious of looks means that they focus on what they view as their flaws too.

My husband can be insecure about his looks, he is not considered that good looking in Korea, but he has gained confidence because actually to Western people, like Australians, Americans etc, he is quite good looking. There is a cultural difference there, so he often feels more confident in Australia. But there are still insecurities, especially as Koreans will point out things. For example, he hasn't been to the gym as much lately and but on a bit of weight so every time he sees any Korean friend they will tell him that he got fat, even though of course by Australian standards he is not fat. His emotions and how he feels about himself can vary widely depending on what environment he is in.

Hi
one day you posted that her husband has the same surname as the G-dragon, if I'm not mistaken, and he said it was his distant relative, wasn't?
Well, I found a blog that talks about it, do not know if this is really true but you can confirm with your husband.

I don't know if you can translate this page, because it is in Portuguese. But it is very interesting.
