Yeah I felt that way too. Obviously a lot of Korean people I meet think it’s a bit odd, but for me it is romantic.

I think it is nice you mixed traditions – that is my plan. It also is easier I think if you have the same last name as your children. And besides, I always liked the idea of being referred to as the Kim family (or Song family, or Davis family etc).

In most case, children take the father’s family name but they can be given the mother’s family name too.

I should bring him back… he just takes so long to draw haha. Yes like Sophie said usually the wife doesn’t usually change her family name but we also wanted to mix traditions and that’s why I took Hugh’s name.

Ahhhh. I’ve only watched maybe 5 dramas in my life.. now I realise how useful they could have been..

In Korea, the father only gives his family name to his children. A family name is never changed in marriage. In my case, we decided to mix traditions so I took Han’s surname as happened in old English tradition. We got my father in law’s permission first, but I think he also thought it was nice to mix our traditions, too 🙂

Btw.. um.. maybe 5 hours. Haha. I’m not so good at using the drawing software yet 😉
