This is so true. One of the funniest things is when I deal a joke or story in English and then my husband translates it for Koreans and it just sounds so much more dramatic and funny.

Koreans tend to put extra umph into things they're talking about. Particularly when they're trying to beef-up/emphasize their story. It's so funny to see the difference between how my husband talks to me in English and then how he talks to his friends in Korean. I feel like this is a subject one of the Korean vloggers out there should make a video of; first retelling an event in English, then saying the exact same thing on Korean. It'd be quite interesting.

I haven't been in Korea yet and my boyfriend speaks very calmly and quietly when he calls back home. But my family is also extremly loud, so I worry that he is sometimes going to think I am fighting with my parents which is not true at all. We usually are just annoyed at some little thing a third party did. :)

I feel like if people don't think they will be understood often people are just louder than they would be in their home country too.

That's so true! I'm an Aussie-born Korean and whenever I hear Koreans speaking really loudly, I can't help but to listen to what they're saying. And usually it's nothing serious at all, something like my eyeliner is smudged, I've gained so much weight etc. I think their inside voices are just a tiny bit louder than normal.
