I live in The Netherlands,( "Holland"), 20 klm above Amsterdam. While it is one of the most dense populated countries in the world, there is still plenty of open country-side. Because the country is as flat as a pancake, bicycling and rollerskating are very popular activities. Plenty of places to rent a bike for tourists.

So did Ha Ji Won 2 years ago
There are clips on Viki with English translation, but not open for Europe.
Also clips on YouTube, without translation.

This makes me miss the countryside in Korea... I'm Korean but I have been living in London all my life and I rarely get the chance to visit. Also my grandparents who lived in the countryside recently passed away so it won't be the same if I visit again. :(

Actually that makes perfect sense. I didn't think of it like that.

In that case, you should make a video explaining why we shouldn't judge Korea's environment ;)

Seriously though thats really smart of you. I guess America has the same thing. Huge areas are still effectively pristine so its more about preservation than restoration. I feel bad for judging Asia for its issues now.

In reply to <a href="https://www.mykoreanhusband.com/springtime-in-korean-countryside/#comment-15201">Susanna</a>.

Maybe some day in the future I could but I don't think I will be able to any time soon. While it's something that interests me, it's not something I can confidently talk about and would probably end up offending people. If it was about Australia and environmentalism in Australia I could, in fact I've even written essays about it for classes before, but Korea is much more complicated.

A big difference is that Australia had a pristine environment that Europeans came into about 200 years ago. It's easy for us to track environmental damage and what has changed. But people have been farming in Korea for thousands of years, it's really different. It's not recently that people have settled here and that means that thousands of years of human settlement has shaped the land. So I don't think it's right for me to come in with my perceptions about environmentalism from a huge country with a small population that still has vast areas of wilderness and comment on a country that is tiny, that has a very long farming history and has a huge population. It wouldn't be right for me to do that any time soon. Hope that makes sense :)

Wow! It looks so beautiful there with all the mountains and greenery. Makes me want to go and visit the Korean countryside. I liked your idea of sitting and reading a book in the old fashioned house. So peaceful. Would guests of the gwon family be allowed to visit the houses too? :)

Could you talk about environmentalism in Korea sometime? I notice the concrete drainage ditches(really bad) and I see all the farming activity(can be bad) and iv heard asia has problems with pollution. I just wonder what local people feel about it and what the conditions are. You will probably have to do a little research, but from my own visual observation it looks like a lot of nitrate and phosphate pollution. So is there a problem with the waterways? Do the people there know its a problem if so? if they knew, would they care? I think it would be interesting video. Kinda mix things up/educational? A lot of your followers want to know things about Korea and this would be a good idea...

Stuff you could include is whether there are healthy fish in the river, whether people feel its safe to eat them, how older people feel about the environment now vs a long time ago, if younger people care more or less, whether there are groups monitoring the rivers (in Austrailia there are people who test rivers constantly), etc. Idk. Just make it educational :D
