4 year old walks into YG Entertainment to ask if BIGBANG is there.

Most people will know Sophie and Han’s daughter Alice from several of our videos. The other week Sophie, Alice and baby Gyo were visiting us and the walk from the bus stop goes past YG Entertainment. Alice likes Bigbang and has even been to a Bigbang concert before so she knows the YG building as “Bigbang’s house”. As we were walking back from the shops and passing YG, Alice was asking about Bigbang. We told her that as it’s a Sunday they won’t be there (which is usually true). Since she is so confident she decided to walk right into the YG driveway and ask the security guard if they were there. The security guard was very nice to her but told her they aren’t there. Usually fans are stopped before getting that far but they let her in and the security guard had a smile on his face. Alice speaks more Korean than English so the whole exchange was in Korean.

I posted this video on Instagram and it got a great response so decided to post it on YouTube too. So many people relate to Alice wanting to see Bigbang. Even some Kpop news sites picked up the story.

This was actually filmed months ago, right after the iKON debut concert.

Chloe and I are a similar age (which is older than the average Kpop fan) but lately have been going to some Kpop concerts. They are so fun and I find I enjoy music a lot more when I’m older and married and just don’t care what people think and I’m not going to cry because I can’t date my “oppa”. In fact, I don’t have any “oppas”! I’m older than all of them…. hahaha…

We’ve mentioned scalpers in another video but there are always so many scalpers in Korea and they manage to buy up a lot of tickets. If you are going to buy tickets from a scalper, Hugh recommends waiting because prices they quote will likely go down the nearer the concert gets.

Another thing we talked about, but had to cut because of time, was that things can be exaggerated about what concerts are like. Never believe gsirl who were right at the front who says things like “The whole concert was sooo dangerous! So many girls fainted! Everyone was squished in!” The experience in the first few floor rows is vastly different to people in seats or even those just a few meters away on the floor. Most people are sitting in seats and are fine. Of course it’s hectic right at the front. Of course girls have to be pulled over the barrier, of course someone will faint. You don’t have to be right at the front though – you aren’t forced to be there! I just wanted to make a point of that because if you do see tweets or headlines like that, it’s because it’s more attention grabbing. Like the iKON concert where they had to stop the concert in the middle because of the crowd for 10 minutes. They were just being extra careful, so that it didn’t get too dangerous. The way it can then be talked about online is often exaggerated. With all due respects to my friends that do work in media and for Kpop sites, I know what you do to get the clicks…

Yes, he used this G-Dragon line on me when we first met. Still haven’t met GD and it’s 5 years later! I thought it was appropriate to share this one again since BIGBANG are currently in Australia now! Ironically I’m in Korea…

My mother in law only knows about Kpop because of me. So what she knows may be a little bit YG biased.

If it’s YG Entertainment biased, I know exactly what they are talking about! I’m up to date on that news! Usually I tune out the Korean I hear around me in public, but I could follow this conversation!

You may be wondering why Hugh didn’t go to it. Although he loves Bigbang, he can be stubborn about things and didn’t want to be too much of a fangirl. Tickets were hard to get too. However, since the new songs have come out, he has been listening to them more than me! Next time he definitely needs to go. I only filmed a tiny bit because not supposed to film, and I wasn’t interested in getting full songs or photos, just wanted to show a little bit of the vibe and feeling of a Bigbang concert. If they are coming to your country I really recommend you go!

Woohoo Bigbang comeback! Unfortunately tickets for concerts go on sale while I’m in Australia so it’s impossible to try to buy them online from here. Even if I was in Korea, it’s so hard to get tickets because they sell out immediately and super hardcore fans have many computers set up to get them as quickly as possible. I can’t compete with that! Fingers crossed that I can get some tickets though… and don’t just have to settle with my husband singing me songs…
