Hugh can give good massages but can also be a total cheapskate and want to use every last bit of lotion, even though we had a new bottle of it. I don’t really appreciate him banging the bottle against my back! But of course before I could get really angry his insistence that it was an ancient Asian massage technique made me laugh.

I do like and appreciate Chinese massages and this was not one of them! I shouldn’t complain too much though because Hugh has had to give me a lot more massages since I became pregnant and I know it can get annoying. But just get the new bottle of lotion out!

Are you good at giving massages? What tips do you have? It’s quite intense work and I honestly don’t know how professionals get through full days of massaging people constantly. My hands and arms get tired after about 5 minutes of giving a massage.

Have you also made up bullsh!t and insisted something was cultural, but really you were just being an idiot? I feel like Australians do this a lot, (drop bears anyone?). But Hugh has a much bigger pool to draw from when bullsh!ting since so many things fall under the category of “Asian”.

It’s been hard for me to get a new comic up on the blog lately because I’ve been working on the last few things for the My Korean Husband comic book (in Korean) that will be published soon. This book is for the Korean market and will be available in Korean book stores (and online).

Combining pregnancy with a lot of sitting at desk and drawing work hasn’t been that great for my back, so I’ve been relying on massages even more these days. Once the book is released I look forward to many more comics on here and more videos. (Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel).

For those that don’t know, we are in Seoul for a month house-sitting (and pet-sitting) for our friends (Eat Your Kimchi) while they do a tour in North America. Which is why Hugh is sitting on a sofa and I was randomly weighing myself, because we don’t have scales (or a sofa) at home.

I think he is a bit hypocritical. He can be negative about Kpop groups that are marketed at teenagers and easily dismisses them, but he enjoys One Direction! Not a big fan or anything, but likes some songs and we’ll sing them at noraebang (karaoke).

I think it was a One Direction money box or something.

This is another one of those times we realise the differences in our childhoods. I wasn’t home schooled but I knew lots of people who were for at least part of their education. So that joke is quite funny to me.

I tried to research a bit on home-schooling in South Korea but mostly got sites for foreigners. I did read it is illegal in Korea, but I’m not sure if that is true. When I ask my husband he just says something about “duty of education”.

From what I can gather foreigners are allowed to home-school their children but Korean children must attend school. Leave a comment if you know more about this.

Were you home-schooled? Do you know other people who were home-schooled? Any other jokes about being home-schooled?

It’s really not romantic, trust me, it’s just annoying. I should be nice to him because he gave me one chewy mint?! I didn’t draw it in the comic because it would have been too long but he actually made me eat the half first before he gave me a full one.
I accumulate so many coins in my purse. I don’t care but it annoys him so every now and then he’ll count them out like that.

He has been saying “crappy” like “creepy” a lot lately and it always sounds funny because it can completely change the meaning.

I often read a blog called Crappy Pictures which is a funny parenting blog. But when my husband refers to it he always says “Creepy Pictures” which sounds really wrong! Especially when it’s such a cute, funny blog.

Does anyone else hate using coins and having to count out the right number while the shop assistant is waiting? My husband often scolds me when I just use a note to pay for something when I obviously had enough in coins. And then I get even more coins from the change.

I fall for this every time. He hates cooking (though he doesn’t mind cleaning) and will do whatever it takes to make me cook instead of him. This is not a representation of Korean men in general. I actually know many Korean guys who love cooking and are really passionate about food. My husband is passionate about food, but only eating it, not cooking it.

I realise after that he set me up with the “Oh I’m a sad little boy just eating one tin of tuna” act because he’ll do his “happy I love you hugging dance” after I agree to cook something.
