Thank you for this strawberry tip. Me and my son are going strawberry picking this weekend with his friend. I remember the first time I was offered to try the Korean strawberry and I really refused thinking that it would be one big blob of sourness like the ones I've tasted before. AM so glad they forced me to try it. :D I'll try that tip this Sunday and see if we can still find decent strawberries even though I think it's almost already late into the season.

to me, those strawberries are like the best symbol of human imperfections and stereotypes we have about people - not all that glitters is gold, not always the "ugly" strawberries are worse and, in many cases, those "ugly", imperfect people are the dearest ones :-)

how you felt about strawberries is exactly what i felt about grapes!! the grape flavour to me was always so fake and never tasted like any of the grapes i ever ate in australia. but when i came to korea and my friend gave me those big, black, thick skinned grapes - oh my lord!! it brought back memories of the mounds of grape bubblegum tape i scoffed over the years and the Dr Dreadful Drink Lab i had as a child. what i thought were terrible, terrible chemical lies were actually naturally occuring flavours huzzah!

It's such a fun thing to do with kids! I wonder if I could modify it so it didn't look rude haha.

I don't mind what a strawberry looks like, you can always cut them up and put them in a bowl if you are bothered with their looks.

Also on the gesturing video, yes we sometimes forget that in other countries their culture is so differen to ours and what we see as ok and not offensive can be very offensive to them. I'd be getting told off for the "I got your nose" gesture a lot, I can't resist it with little kids. My daughter used to love it. (Pretend you got her nose and then when she asks for it back, pretend to put it back on upsidedown).

Love the comics, love the videos and it is really interesting to hear about your life and the differences you come across.

Oh and I love your top in these videos Nicola! So cute!

That's right. We will have strawberries all year around in Australia and they transport well but they are so tasteless.

Also, the fruit is better in Korea probably because it's natural and not modified or bred for looks as it is in North America / NZ / Australia.
