Haha my husband was trying to learn how to say, “Do you speak English?” for our upcoming trip to Korea. He was testing himself against Korean Siri on his phone and she kept bringing up links to livestock…this could be interesting!

This has happened more than once with me as well, except I’m the one in Mr. Gwon’s position. One time, it was a student telling me about the Korean presidential “erection.” Another time, a student said they had a “hard on” from having to walk home with pounds of textbooks in their backpack. (That one was in a text and actually the result of a few different language issues: typing “on” instead of “one,” extrapolating from the phrase “have a good one” that you can substitute “one” for “day” in other contexts, etc.) But no matter which side I’m on, this kind of thing delights me. Language is fascinating. 🙂

In reply to yang janice. Almost the exact same thing happened to me! My friend was learning Chinese, and instead of saying 問 wèn, she ended up saying 聞 (wen with the second tone), so it sounded like she was asking if she could smell me xD
