My family on my fathers side does live in the countryside, and they adhere strongly to traditional Dutch quisine. My grandparents on my mothers side used to adhere to it strongly, but since my grandfather passed away, my grandmother has tried many new foods, which resulted in some.. interesting fusion dishes. My grandparents on my father’s side still never had rice, noodles (both western and Asian), pizzas, foreign pastries and bread, or foreign fruits like bananas or oranges. I like Dutch food, but I am thankful that I do not have to eat what they eat daily!
