Hi, yes it is weird that some people use it as a dating site, but I think you can restrict how people see you and whom you want contacting you - i.e. just in the languge that you are learning.. I have started using it but feel kinda nervous especially as I am trying out my Korean which has been at beginner level since for ever!

I’m an introvert with a bit of social anxiety and this app is perfect for me. I used to use language exchange websites but the people there always asked to move to skype or call me via line/kakaotalk, which would freak me out. This app is a lot better for learning without over-interaction until you really know them well. Thanks for the recommendation Nichola! ^^

I’ve started using HelloTalk based on your suggestion, and I’ve had a great experience (apart from the couple of guys hitting on me…)! I’ve found one really solid language exchange partner that is helping me through, and vice versa. It’s a really good idea. It’s challenging me too!
