I stopped watching the drama Orange Marmalade because of the weird cut to Joseon times… also because the hanboks are clearly very modern ones – like I saw shoes in one scene that were the exact hanbok shoes I have! It really takes the enjoyment away from it because I’m too busy looking at cheap polyester hanboks.

Most companies don’t need to put advertising everywhere, but they do, because they want more money and they are a business. When you use an online product or app and you are not paying with money, then you are paying with data/research.

Maybe Webtoon is Line’s philanthropy project or tax write off. Or maybe you are on to something about using merchandising and licensing later on to make money. The Line chat app was one of the first apps to sell stickers and then later on all the U.S. companies started adding that feature since they noticed the business opportunity.

I follow a Japanese vlogger who was super excited when his character was made into a stamp/sticker on Line. He made two separates videos about it, lol. So maybe the the successful or popular comics will get a deal to make stickers for the chat app. Can you imagine that? People using your characters to express themselves to friends and fam in chats? 🙂

it’s amaing how far korean manhwa/webtoons have come in the past 5 years o.o it used to be really rare for there to be translations of korean comics, and most comic-to-drama adaptions in korea were based off of japanese manga. but now there’s been a ton of kdramas released recently based off of comics and many formally only manga translating sites now have a ton of korean comics. it’s nice to see. c:

Yeah apparently so many people want to be a webtoon writer/artist in Korea too! Webtoons are actually being made into dramas as well.
