Do you get upset at anyone who speaks a different dialect from yours? “Soccer” just means “association football” and it was a commonly used term coined in England.
When the Americans started using it to differentiate between soccer and American football (same reason non-Americans used it- to differentiate between soccer and rugby), then bunch of snobs decided they don’t like the word.

I live in Brazil so I’m living the World cup…even not wanting. But korea x Russia was nice, they did better than I thought. Actually I’ve seen so many people cheering for Korea, even the non kpop or k-dramas fans.

I’ve only heard that we won a game… once? something? I guess most Americans aren’t nearly as into soccer as much as the rest of the world. McDonalds is advertising it on their cups. Other than that and occasionally an update in the news, you hear nothing.

I have been living in Norway for a couple of years and I heard that in years with World Cup the sick leave among male employees increases with 40 % !! They pull sickies just so they can watch the games at night! The funny thing is that Norway never qualifies. This year my boyfriend decided to move the tv from the living room to the bedroom. Yey! I wanted to ask Hugh, between AUS & KOR, if they were to play against each other who would he root for? I know that he follows both teams progress.

Here, there’s no difference, the men at work are going crazy. Teams from Germany, Spain, Italy, USA, Ghana, Bosnia, and France. There’s never a dull moment. Hope Korea win them all! Fighting!!!!

I’m watching the wold cup and I normally always support the Netherlands and then Germany. ^_^ But even if I support the Netherlands I’m absolutely no orange fan. ^_^

Oh man, the people in my building are crazy. my upstairs neighbor has the games blaring all the time, and one woman keeps squatting in the parking lot with her phone propped up against the wall screaming her head off at every play while puffing a cigarette. It would be pretty funny if she weren’t doing it at 12am when i’m trying to sleep >____<

I'm rooting for Korea, of course. Also Germany.
