Why do Koreans use toilet paper like this?

This is definitely something that doesn’t bother me while I’m in Korea, but if we were living in Australia in our own place I’d have all the paper in the “right places”. Since my parents usually have Koreans boarding with them my mother has made a rule of no toilet paper in the kitchen. While it’s natural for Koreans to have it with them while cooking, it’s too odd for Australians to be using it as much a multipurpose thing.

We do have kitchen towel in the kitchen at my inlaws house here, but I think I use it more than anyone. I use it when cooking and as a serviette/napkin while everyone else is using the toilet paper. Having meals in Korea is vastly different to what I grew up with as well because the style of eating is so different. I would definitely fold the napkins into nice shapes and place them on the plates for nice dinners or when we had guests in Australia.

What Hugh said about sometimes using newspaper for toilet paper as a child was surprising for me. It is interesting to see how different our childhoods were.

He refused to play along. Kissing in public is still pretty embarrassing for him, even though the younger generation is changing. Has anyone really experienced this kiss before? haha

MODERN FARMER REVIEW

We talk about the Korean drama “Modern Farmer” and what we think about it. No major spoilers.

I do most of the talking because I actually sat down and wrote an essay about the drama after discussions with Hugh about it. Therefore it was easier for me to talk about it. Also, he is so hungry in this video so all he is thinking about is food.

Korea Drama Awards

Not only is the Jinju Lantern Festival on right now but there is also a Drama Festival. The Korea Drama Awards were also held and we decided to go check it out. We didn’t expect to see anyone but we happened to see the red carpet. We filmed what we could for all you Korean drama fanatics out there. You can also see what it’s like to be in the crowd at a red carpet event like this and how many people there are.

And here is the vlog of the day on our vlogging channel.

Chai lattes aren’t always that easy to get in Korea. Because I don’t drink coffee and prefer chai lattes I’m always looking for which places have them. Starbucks and Ediya Coffee are two big chains that have them. Let me know if you know of any others! Since we live in the countryside I can only really get them from bigger chains that are everywhere.
