About Me

Who am I?

I’m a Caucasian Australian woman. I’m married to a Korean man. I don’t mean an Australian man with Korean ethnicity I mean Korean Korean. A Korean man who has lived most of his life in South Korea- actually rural South Korea.

What challenges do we face? Many, but there are many more rewards. I’ve been fascinated by Korean culture for several years and was somewhat knowledgeable before I met my husband. But through him I’ve discovered so much more and a whole new world has opened up for me.

    Hi

Great blog you have, I also have a korean wife so I really understand your blog :)

The main reason I am contacting you is that I am interested in advertising on your blog and would like to know your rates for a banner ad or a link the side.

Alternatively would you also be interested in guest blogging on our blog (currently being updated) where you could put a link to your blog to help you get more visitors in exchange for a short review about our online fashion shop on your blog?

    thanks

    Andrew

      Hi,
I’m not putting advertising on my blog yet but I may be interested in guest blogging in exchange for a review. I’ll be busy in Korea for 2 weeks from tomorrow but I’ll contact you when I’m back in Australia.

Hi. I don’t even know your name. I came across your blog because of your soompi siggie.
I love your blog! You have such cute and funny posts! And the drawings are really cute!
I love the comic things that you draw, the ones involving your husband! It’s just soooo hilarious! I hope you’ll keep on posting some more. :)
Once, I had thoughts of marrying a Korean man too. But it’s all fangirl-ish delusions.
You must be living in Korea now. That’d be just AWESOME!

    Keep it up! 화이팅~!!!

    • http://WWW.MYKOREANHUSBAND.COM Nic

Thanks! Glad you like it. Not living in Korea yet (but going there on Saturday for 2 weeks). We will move to Korea for a few years at the end of next year.

  • Suyanne

Hii !! I’m so glad I found your blog! We have quite similar stories and it is sooo funny to read your cartoons! I can relate with most of it! As I think I’ll be hanging around here quite often I’ll introduce myself: I’m Brazilian but lived half of my life in France. In 2009 I went to England to finish my studies and that’s where I met my actual K-boyfriend (at the time he was an international student as well) ^^ We lived together for 2 years and recently he left to do his military service in Korea. Meanwhile I’m learning korean and planning to move there! Oh and he is a very talented musician and was the front-man in a band in Manchester :P Not the K-pop kind of guy though ^^ Keep releasing your lovely stories!! Love it so much!

    • http://www.mykoreanhusband.com/ Nic

Hi welcome! It’s so nice to meet others in similar situations.
That must be difficult to be apart while he does his military service :(

      • https://www.facebook.com/suyanne.oliveira Suyanne

It is hard, but i keep myself busy working, learning korean, sewing on my new sewing machine :) … Hopefully time will fly by!! 19 months to go though :( (I wish I could draw a comic of my face to explain better how I feel ^^)

  • The Squishy Monster

You have a lovely blog and I’m enjoying your humor SO much! Can’t wait to see your adventures ^.^

I also am a semi-newlywed, married to a korean man. I started a blog back in august myself, about my life in korea living with a korean family. Although at the moment mine is mostly korean snack food reviews, haha. Your blog is very entertaining, and it’s so fun to see the similarities between our lives. My husband has a lot of the same insecurities, like worrying about his height.
I’ll keep coming back tocheck your blog, it’s really cute!

  • JooEunmom

    Hi.
I’m from Ph and also married with korean. We have a daughter and been married for 4 years now.
We used to live in Ph since after our marriage, but had to moved here in Korea because of his work.
I found your blog through fb “My Korean Husband”.
Your blog is awesome and I love your COMICS! I can totally relate with your stories.
Specially when we (hubby and I) are on the first stage of our marriage, we use to depend with a handy “English/Korean Dictionary” So we could understand each other. Been through a lot of adjustment, since there’s a lot of differences from culture to another.
I will surely visit your blog everytime and hope to be friends with you as well.

    • http://www.mykoreanhusband.com/ Nic

Hi, thanks! I’m hoping to meet people like you when my husband and I move to Korea for a few years ^_^

Great blog! Very eloquent and insightful, comics are cute too. Overall enjoyed it very much, but don’t give away too much of the secret. :)

  • Dennis

As I’m reading your blog, I’m once again reminded how Australia is so different from US. I visited Sidney about 10 yrs ago. Absolutely loved it. As a Kor-Am, I’m pretty familiar w/ Korean culture, but at times I feel I’m getting a glimpse of Aussie culture as well as I’m reading your blog. Can you talk more about Australian culture?

    • http://www.mykoreanhusband.com/ Nic

When we start putting videos on our youtube channel you’ll be able to see a lot more Australian culture :)

    • http://twitter.com/kittyctc Kittyctc

Australia’s media is a lot more liberal and relaxed compared to US. Nudity, homosexuality and many swear words are never censored(they don’t bleep out the stuff) on ABC or SBS. Wheras you see a lot less violence on tv at least on Australian made TV dramas. The thing that really strikes me when I first watched a primetime show such as Law and Order after many years was the level of physical violence and the visual evidence of violence against women. I’d lived in US(the east and west) and if I really have to pick- i’d say Sydney’s weather, people’s moods and vibes in general are quite similar to SF or Seattle…

  • Iliana

Congratulations! I wish you the very best!! :)

I’m brazilian and my boyfriend is korean, totally different cultures.. Before met him I didn’t know too much about Korea, and day by day I’m liking everytime more! Your blog will help me little bit more to understand about them :)
    Thanks ^^

  • Lina

My friend and I find your blog extremely facinating! We both lived in Korea for several years teaching English. We both also have Korean Korean partners (my friend and her partner will marry soon whereas my partner and I are still adjusting to Australian life). It’s comforting to know there are others experiencing the challenges of cultural differences! I am Samoan and so I find it hilarious watching my partner (who’s English ability is not too flash) trying to communicate with my parents who also lack decent English skills! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you for the wonderful laughs and insights on your relationship.

    • http://www.mykoreanhusband.com/ Nic

Hi! That sounds really interesting! I’d love to hear some of your stories about cultural differences. I’m really happy that you are enjoying the blog. :)
