It’s been a while since I’ve made a comic! Besides from just being a busy mother, my laptop is quite slow these days, so it makes comic drawing not as enjoyable.

We will be moving into a new apartment at start of next year, so I’m hoping I will have a proper office area again, and a better computer.

Always so many projects and things I want to do and never enough time.

And yes… Hugh really did get a photo of himself (topless) on a phone case. Thankfully the one he actually uses is the one with photos of Yul.

My brother was visiting for a few days, so Hugh organized a collab with Big Marvel, since they are both musicians. Big Marvel is a Korean YouTuber who has a huge international following, who we’ve known for a few years. He used to have just a Korean channel but he started again and switched to an international audience and now has over 5 million subscribers. ‘Big Marvel’ is actually a funny, awkward persona he adopts for videos. This video is my vlog of the day. You can see how much time and effort goes into these collab videos that look like just a random performance on the street.

There is always someone weirder than you.

Because of the recent rain there were a lot of worms that had come above ground. I found a huge one that was still alive so I picked it up. Hugh was absolutely disgusted so of course I chased after him with it. If he didn’t have such a strong reaction I wouldn’t do it to him! The cicadas are also out at the moment and very loud. I wanted to find a cicada shell or a live cicada just to freak Hugh out. Right after he scolded me for even mentioning that a group of boys rode past on their bikes. One of them shouted, “I want to eat a cicada!”

That’s way more weird than me just playing with worms and insects! I know people can eat crickets, but do people eat cicadas anywhere?

The cicadas in Korea sound slightly different to the ones in Australia. I think they are a higher pitch. I’ve often heard people say they find the ones here in Korea to be more irritating. They will still try to pee on you like the ones in Australia though.

I will continue to gross out Hugh with stuff though. He grew up in the countryside! He used to catch frogs and snakes and bugs when he was young! I don’t understand his aversion now. He just says, “It’s different now”. It’s been a long time since he has touched them, but for me it was somewhat recently that I was doing a zoo keeping course that sometimes involves insects, either as exhibits or food for other animals.

I wonder if that kid actually found a cicada to eat…

The ‘My Korean’ Husband’ book is available from today! It is available in Kyobo book stores and online here. This books is in Korean, but there are English captions for the comics. It is not yet available internationally yet, as it is for the Korean market, but we will update you when it’s available internationally online.

How to be annoying in your marriage. Cold Feet!

We revisit quite an old comic from the blog! Are you the North Korea in your relationship? Do you deliberately provoke? Are you a totalitarian dictatorship? No… wait… that doesn’t sound right.

The real question: Are you the type to put your cold feet on your partner?

Hugh also elbows me a lot and does weird things like steals extra pillows and puts them on his stomach, or scrunches covers into a ball and sleeps with it like that on his stomach. Recently he even stole the pillow I had for my back (so much pregnancy back pain at moment) and had it resting on his stomach whole sleeping!

But I am a super light sleeper and I get up in the middle of the night several times. I tend to open and shut windows while half asleep or just move things around. I also will randomly put my hand on Hugh’s arm in the middle of the night, which can make him jump.

As annoying as a partner can be during the night, when you are used to them sleeping next to you, when they aren’t there it can be even harder to sleep.

This video was filmed over a month ago so my pregnancy isn’t showing as much and Hugh isn’t as skinny as he is now. I’ve been really busy with the book finally being released soon. Every day talking with my editor, re-doing things, drawing extra stuff for it. But I’m excited to finally have a book for the Korean market, which will hopefully be the first of many.

Hugh can give good massages but can also be a total cheapskate and want to use every last bit of lotion, even though we had a new bottle of it. I don’t really appreciate him banging the bottle against my back! But of course before I could get really angry his insistence that it was an ancient Asian massage technique made me laugh.

I do like and appreciate Chinese massages and this was not one of them! I shouldn’t complain too much though because Hugh has had to give me a lot more massages since I became pregnant and I know it can get annoying. But just get the new bottle of lotion out!

Are you good at giving massages? What tips do you have? It’s quite intense work and I honestly don’t know how professionals get through full days of massaging people constantly. My hands and arms get tired after about 5 minutes of giving a massage.

Have you also made up bullsh!t and insisted something was cultural, but really you were just being an idiot? I feel like Australians do this a lot, (drop bears anyone?). But Hugh has a much bigger pool to draw from when bullsh!ting since so many things fall under the category of “Asian”.

It’s been hard for me to get a new comic up on the blog lately because I’ve been working on the last few things for the My Korean Husband comic book (in Korean) that will be published soon. This book is for the Korean market and will be available in Korean book stores (and online).

Combining pregnancy with a lot of sitting at desk and drawing work hasn’t been that great for my back, so I’ve been relying on massages even more these days. Once the book is released I look forward to many more comics on here and more videos. (Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel).

This happened this morning…. Thanks Hugh! He says he always drops his phone on his face. Unfortunately today he dropped it on my face. Actually my nose still feels a little bit sore!

Do you drop your phone on your face a lot? I know a lot of people do but I have rarely done it since I tend to lay on my side when looking at my phone. Or have you done this to a partner?

Sara and I react to something Korean! Should we just do reaction videos from now on??? I mean we are pretty good at it!

Hugh and Joel play Google Guess where they try to guess how Google will autofill these sentences to do with things either British or Korean. Joel is one of Hugh’s best friends and is also often seen on the very famous YouTube channel ‘Korean Englishman’. Usually when he is visiting he is out with Hugh constantly (I’m always a third wheel), but I managed to get them to sit down to play with game.

Just a little vlog about Pokemon Go finally being in South Korea.  South Korea is very late getting Pokemon Go because of mapping concerns (to do with North Korea or something) but it’s finally here! On one of the coldest days! It was about -10 when we were walking around. Since YG Entertainment (entertainment company of massive stars like BIGBANG etc) is in our neighbourhood, we walked by to see what was there in the game.
